There is nothing more exciting than finding a picture of your ancestor!
Have you ever wondered how your great-grandma might have looked like as a child?
Would you love to find a wedding picture of your 2x Great-grandparents?
What about that picture of your parent that was lost in a fire?
Do you wonder if anybody else has the same picture?
To some of us, answering these questions would mean the world to us. Looking at great-grandpa as he is smiling back at you, holding his new wife’s hand can fill your heart. Seeing a picture of your great-aunt who was known as the life of the party, can bring joy to you.
This is how I feel when I look at my own ancestors’ pictures. I see love, hope, fear, sadness and joy in these pictures. I hope one of these days, you too will be able to hold a photo of your ancestor in your hands and see them not just as a name and date.
The pictures posted here were found at antique stores, flea markets and thrift stores. My goal is to find descendants of these pictures and then unite them with their families. For now, I will be posting pictures that are in my possession to this website. I am hoping to add more information, such as biographies, to each of them as I research them.
My thanks go out to Alison Reid, who is a member of my Facebook group “Lost and Found Vintage Pictures”, for inspiring me with her own like-minded website.
